kingfisher carving

OK so it's not a real kingfisher - it's a wood carving.

There are several of these around the flash. I think this one is the best.

There are real kingfishers around. They can be seen quite often from the Teal Hide.

Pennington Flash is an excellent bird watching venue, not just for water birds but also for woodland species.

The official pamphlet states that over 230 species have been recorded here, some of them quite rare.

Rarities include, Ring-necked Duck, Blue-winged Teal, American Wigeon, Canvasback, Lesser Scaup, Spotted Crake, Little Egret, Spoonbill, Whiskered Tern, White-winged Black Tern and Marsh Warbler.

I've not heard of most of these.
