Lock gates and pound

This is not the Top Lock but another near it.

The pounds between the locks on the Wigan flight are very short. During the summer, if there is a lot of through traffic, they can become shallow, making it difficult to pass through.

Note the blue reflection of the sky in the water. I've heard it said that the Leeds-Liverpool Canal is the only "blue water" canal in the country.
